A kangaroo joey was filmed on Wednesday on a street in Sector 5, and the images went viral on the internet. Police have initiated checks, determining that the animal escaped from the yard of Nuţu Cămataru when the caretaker was cleaning.
Images of a white kangaroo joey filmed on Wednesday on the streets of Sector 5 in the Capital have become viral on the internet.
Many of the comments were made in jest, but some commentators expressed concern about the fate of the animal, endangered among cars.
Un cangur văzut în sectorul 5 pe o stradă!🦘*DGPMB*_*În urma imaginilor și informațiilor apărute în spațiul public cu privire la faptul că, pe o stradă din Sectorul 5, ar fi fost văzut un pui de cangur, Serviciul Informare și Relații Publice este abilitat să comunice următoarele:*_La data de 12 februarie 2025, în jurul orei 11.20, polițiștii Capitalei au fost sesizați, prin apel 112, cu privire la faptul că, pe o stradă, din Sectorul 5 ar fi fost văzut un pui de cangur.La adresa menționată s-au deplasat cu operativitate atât echipaje din cadrul Secției 24 Poliție, cât și polițiști din cadrul Serviciului pentru Protecția Animalelor care au constatat faptul că aspectele sesizate se confirmă. În urma verificărilor efectuate a fost identificat proprietarul animalului în cauză care deține mai multe exemplare de faună sălbatică.De asemenea, din primele verificări a rezultat presupunerea rezonabilă că, animalul a scăpat din curtea proprietarului în momentul în care o persoană desfășura activităţi de curățenie în țarcul în care era ținut acesta. Totodată, animalul a fost recuperat de proprietar la scurt timp după incident. Menționăm faptul că animalul a fost verificat de un specialist veterinar din cadrul Serviciului pentru Protecția Animalelor și nu prezenta leziuni.În acest moment activitățile sunt în dinamică și se realizează verificări, în vederea stabilirii legalității de deținere a animalului, dar și pentru stabilirea situației de fapt.
"On February 12, 2025, around 11:20, the Capital police were notified, through the 112 emergency number, about the sighting of a kangaroo joey on a street in Sector 5. Promptly, both teams from Police Section 24 and officers from the Animal Protection Service were dispatched to the mentioned address, confirming the reported aspects," stated the Capital Police.
According to judicial sources, the animal belongs to Nuţu Cămătaru, who owns several wild animals. The kangaroo joey escaped from the yard when the caretaker was cleaning the enclosure.
The animal was recovered by the owner shortly after the incident and was examined by a veterinary specialist from the Animal Protection Service, who confirmed that it had no injuries, as further conveyed by the Capital Police.
Authorities are trying to determine if the animal was legally held.
