American rapper Wiz Khalifa has been indicted by prosecutors in Constanța, Romania.
He is accused of smoking cannabis on stage at this summer’s „Beach, Please!” festival.
The case was registered on October 16 at the Constanța Tribunal and concerns "illicit drug consumption".
According to the Romanian Penal Code, Wizz Khalifa, real name Thomaz Cameron Jibril, faces the following penalty:
"Cultivating, producing, manufacturing, experimenting, extracting, preparing, transforming, buying or possessing risk drugs for personal consumption without authorization is punishable by imprisonment from 3 months to 2 years or a fine," and if "the actions involve high-risk drugs, the penalty is imprisonment from 6 months to 3 years."
It is worth mentioning that the American rapper was detained on July 14 by police officers at the "Beach, Please!" festival in Costinești after lighting a cannabis joint on stage.
Subsequently, Wiz Khalifa communicated on social media that he had a great time and did not mean to show disrespect towards Romania.
"Last night's show was amazing.
I did not intend to disrespect Romania by lighting up (a joint) on stage. They were very respectful and let me go.
I will return soon. But without a big joint next time," he wrote on X.
The rapper has often advocated for cannabis consumption and even created the successful "Khalifa Kush" weed brand.
