Secretary of State in the Ministry of Energy George Lazăr has been sent to trial by the DNA after allegedly using his influence, as the president of PNL Neamţ, to ensure that a person temporarily appointed to lead the Neamţ Forestry Directorate remains in office.
„In September 2022, as the president of the county organization of a political party, the defendant Lazăr George allegedly used his influence over the general director of the National Forest Administration – Romsilva to convince him to maintain a certain temporarily appointed person in the position of director of the Neamţ Forestry Directorate,” DNA stated on Monday in a press release.
Specifically, DNA prosecutors claim that, when the rightful holder of the position of director of the Neamţ Forestry Directorate wanted to return to office, the defendant allegedly used his influence to persuade him through the general director of Romsilva to withdraw his request and accept his delegation to another position so that the position would continue to be filled, by delegation, by his protege.
The case has been sent for trial to the Bacău Court of Appeal.
George Lazăr currently serves as Secretary of State in the Ministry of Energy and as the president of PNL Neamţ.
