A serious road accident occurred on Monday morning in the town of Cumpărătura, Suceava County, Romania.
The accident happened at 6 in the morning on DN2, also known as the „Death Road,” between a cement truck and a car towing a platform with another vehicle.
As a result of the violent impact, five people died, including two children.
Who is the guilty driver
The accident was caused by the tanker driver, a 40-year-old Ukrainian citizen, who fell asleep at the wheel, according to the conclusions presented by the spokesperson of the Suceava County Police, Ionuţ Epureanu, cited by Agerpres.
The man was driving from Suceava to Cumpărătura, transporting cement-type construction material. He fell asleep at the wheel, crossed into oncoming traffic, and collided head-on with the car.
The car driver, a 36-year-old man, who was driving properly, as well as the other four passengers in the car, including two children aged eight and ten, with their parents, all died.
The driver who caused the accident suffered minor injuries and was taken to the "Saint John the New" Emergency Hospital in Suceava.
He was tested with a breathalyzer, and the result was negative.
He is now under criminal investigation for manslaughter.

Monitorul de Suceava writes that 4 of the victims in the accident were a family returning from the seaside vacation.
On their way home, their VW Touran broke down, so they asked for help from a man from Buzău County to take them home. Costel and Ancuța Lăzărescu, along with their two children, got into the man's car from Buzău, and their car was loaded onto the platform.
The poor people were only 70 kilometers away from their destination.
Ancuța Lăzărescu worked at a veterinary pharmacy in Volovăț, and her husband, Costel, worked at the radio station in Rădăuți. The 5 bodies were taken by the funeral home staff, and an autopsy will be performed.
