Universitatea Craiova parted ways with Bulgarian coach Ivaylo Petev on Wednesday following the defeat in the match against FCSB (0-2 at the National Arena).
The days of Bulgarian Ivaylo Petev at Universitatea Craiova are numbered, after the defeat in the derby against FCSB, 0-2 at the National Arena in the 3rd round of the play-off.
According to Fanatik, Mihai Rotaru, the owner of Universitatea Craiova, and Ivaylo Petev have reached an agreement regarding the termination of the contract. The favorite to replace Petev, as the cited source mentions, is Costel Câlcă, former coach of FCSB, the last team with which the "red and blues" won the title in 2015.
Ivaylo Petev still had a contract with Universitatea Craiova until the summer of 2026.
The defeat in the derby against FCSB, 0-2 at the National Arena, as well as the elimination from the Romanian Cup, all happening within a week, proved fatal for the Bulgarian coach.
