Romanian central defender Radu Drăgușin is currently seriously injured, after suffering a rupture of the cruciate ligaments in his knee a few months ago, in February.
He could return to the field somewhere after August-September at Tottenham, but the British team is preparing to bring in a replacement for the 22-year-old Romanian player. Tottenham is considering Colombian central defender Jhon Lucumi from Bologna, the recent winner of the Italian Cup.
Speculations about a possible sale of Drăgușin by Spurs have once again emerged.
"The Colombian star could be a better fit for Ange Postecoglou's system at Tottenham. Should Tottenham sell Radu Drăgușin?" according to the online publication "To the Lane and Back" (TTLB), close to the club.
"When we talk about Lucumi, he is naturally left-footed and immediately brings that (much-needed) balance to the build-up phase of the game.
Given his ball-playing abilities, he feels quite comfortable bringing the ball out to the midfield or to calmer areas when under pressure. Furthermore, he can quickly become a supporting midfielder or appear on the side, specifically on the left flank, which would be ideal, considering Udogie's tendency to move forward in attack."
Drăgușin? "He is a right-footed player who plays as a central defender. He is physically dominant and very solid in aerial duels, but he has not yet adapted to Tottenham's high line. He struggles with quick passing. He is at his best when playing in a hybrid system with three defenders," says "To the Lane and Back."
Tottenham will finish above the relegation line in the Premier League, but has the chance to save its season by winning next Wednesday's Europa League final against Manchester United, the team just above them in the standings.
