Celta Vigo has once again qualified for the main group stage of the Europa League, at the end of a fantastic season by the team from northern Spain, in which Ionuț Radu had a significant role and contribution.
The Romanian goalkeeper played in the final match against FC Sevilla, with a score of 1-0, but suffered a slight injury. He experienced muscular issues during the game: „He felt a certain discomfort in the hamstring, but continued to play,” noted the newspaper El Desmarque.
The journalists from the aforementioned local newspaper rated the former goalkeeper of Steaua or Dinamo with a 6, analyzing his performance as follows: "He cleared a shot off the goal line from a corner. Just before halftime, he made an excellent save with his foot, preventing Alexis Sánchez from scoring. He didn't have much to do in the second half, although Sevilla was looking for the equalizer."
Radu played in all 38 matches of this La Liga season, and his very good performances led the club to designate him as the "Best player of Celta Vigo this season".
The goalkeeper of the Romanian national team was congratulated in Spanish, "Moitos parabéns, Andrei", and also in Romanian: "Felicitări!"
Manager Gică Hagi called up Radu for Romania's matches in June, against Georgia and Wales, both friendly matches, on June 2 and 6.
