The team from Gruia was knocked down at the beginning of the match, when Marius Ștefănescu was excellently found in the box by Kallaku and scored with a well-placed shot.
The equalizer came in the 21st minute, when Boben headed the ball from Deac's corner kick.
CFR Cluj failed to find the strength needed to secure the victory and made the second misstep in the play-off, despite Avonou having a great chance in stoppage time.
