“Everyone can see that I love this sport, that I have so much passion. Playing here and being in the semifinals is amazing. I am so grateful and enjoying my week in Rome. I think Jelena is a strong opponent, she doesn't give you space for rhythm, but to be at this level you have to be aggressive, run, be strong. I hope I can continue like this,” Sorana said.
Sorana Cîrstea qualified for the semifinals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Rome after defeating Latvian Jelena Ostapenko.
Our athlete won in two sets, with a score of 6-1, 7-6 (0), against the 36th-ranked WTA player.
Following this result, the head-to-head record between Sorana and Ostapenko is 4-4.
Sorana will play in the semifinals against the winner of the match between Cori Gauff and Mirra Andreeva.
The semifinal match will take place on Thursday at a time that has not yet been determined.
