Simona Halep (32 years old) has named the coach she would like to collaborate with in the future.
Returning to the court after being cleared of doping suspension, Simona Halep is currently on a tournament break after sustaining an injury at the Trophee Clarins, where she played her last match of the year in Paris.
Simona revealed that she would like to work again in the future with Australian Darren Cahill, who currently coaches Jannik Sinner, the new leader in the ATP rankings.
At Cahill's recommendation, Halep had started working with Spaniard Carlos Martinez, a collaboration she has now ended.
"We talked when we were still working together in 2021 that I would retire with him in the stands. Now I don't know if it will happen, but I hope so. The desire always remains.
(Editor's note: So retirement is not on the table...) I am only thinking about coming back, that's all," stated Simona Halep to Pro TV.
With Darren Cahill as her coach, Simona Halep won the French Open in 2018. She also has a title at Wimbledon in 2019.
