Romanian central defender Radu Drăgușin is not at peace at Tottenham Hotspur, a team where he managed to finish the Premier League season as a starter in the last two matches.
The London team finished in 5th place and will play in the Europa League group stage next season, which is why they are preparing for a stormy transfer campaign to compete again for the top 4 and therefore for the Champions League group stage next year.
Journalists from the German publication Bild wrote that the London team is interested in the services of another player in the central defender position. They are referring to Mohamed Simakan, a player in the Bundesliga at RB Leipzig. The German player has a release clause of 70 million euros at the age of 24, being a highly rated defender with excellent speed.
"In the last matches of the season, Drăgușin proved his worth when he partnered with Cristian Romero, while Van de Ven was moved to the left side.
Even though the Romanian showed strength in defense, he was not at the same level as Van de Ven, simply because he lacks speed. Simakan is close in speed to Van de Ven, and Spurs can play just as well in defense even without the Dutch defender," said journalists from The Spurs News.
Tottenham paid the sum of 30 million euros to Genoa last winter for Drăgușin, who mostly sat on the English team's bench. The Romanian has also been linked to interest from Napoli, who are tempted to pay 46 million euros for him next summer.
