Adrian Mutu announces his resignation: CFR Cluj has two replacement options

Adrian Mutu (45 years old) announced on Wednesday that he has resigned from CFR Cluj.

„The brilliant one” could not get over the humiliating defeat suffered by CFR Cluj against Corvinul Hunedoara, with a score of 0-4, in the Romanian Cup.

In a post-match flash interview, Adrian Mutu announced that he is ready to resign, and now he has made the final decision and informed the club that he has decided to leave.

„I have resigned from CFR Cluj! I have been thinking all night, I cannot get over this humiliation. I have a different mentality, that of a winner.

My resignation is on the desk of CFR Cluj’s president, Cristi Balaj, since 11:00 in the morning. I am waiting for it to be approved by Mr. Varga, and then we will shake hands.

It was too much humiliation, something that I, with a champion’s character, simply cannot bear. I wish for CFR to continue to perform, but it’s difficult under these conditions, as you have seen. It’s about the performance we had in the match against Corvinul, but especially about the lack of attitude that was present.

So, officially, I can say that I have submitted my resignation! I am very sorry about this situation, but I, Adrian Mutu, have sat and thought all night and simply cannot accept this,” declared Adrian Mutu, according to Fanatik.

CFR Cluj has two names on the replacement list for Adrian Mutu. They are Andrea Mandorlini, the Italian whom Mutu himself replaced on CFR’s bench, or Dan Petrescu from the summer of 2024, as reported by ProSport.
