Only one Romanian football player will participate in the Club World Cup, a mammoth competition that will start on June 15 and is organized by FIFA.
It might be a surprise, the Romanian goalkeeper Horatiu Moldovan, who was a starter on Saturday in Vienna, had a very good game, saving many goals as if they were made by the Austrians.
Gregoritsch and Sabitzer were the two players who scored for Austria, which won 2-1.
Last season, Moldovan was loaned by Atletico Madrid to Sassuolo, a team with which he promoted to Serie A. The Romanian goalkeeper is returning to Spain and will leave for America in a few days:
"I still have a contract with Atletico, I will go back there. Probably I will also go to the Club World Cup, we'll see what happens," said Horatiu Moldovan at the end of the match.
The national team goalkeeper also talked about the goals conceded in the match in Vienna: "(Editor's note: Unfortunately, an unfavorable result, although you had some life-saving interventions) It would have been better not to have any intervention and win 1-0. We faced a strong team, with players in the top 5 leagues. That goal came, it was as if someone poured lead in our boots, and then we conceded the deflected goal. We played our game, but we also had bad luck. We conceded 2 goals from situations that didn't announce anything."
We hope until the end, if not the 1st place, at least the 2nd place. We can go to the World Cup even from 2nd place. We hope to recover as soon as possible, we have a difficult match on Tuesday.
I felt incredible tonight, as if I played at home. I want to thank the fans and apologize for not making them happy," said Horatiu Moldovan, to AntenaSport.
The other two goalkeepers of the Romanian national team are Florin Nita and Stefan Tarnovanu. Atletico Madrid is in Group B of the Club World Cup, alongside the European champions PSG and the clubs Botafogo and Seattle Sounders, from Brazil and the USA.
