Thief Saved from Prison by Faith in God

Thief Saved from Prison by Faith in God

A thief from Vaslui, Romania, escaped prison thanks to being a good Christian. That’s exactly what the court wrote in the reasoning of the suspended sentence it applied to him.

The defendant’s name is Dorin Gabriel Ivanciu and he stole money (around 3,000 euros) from S.C. Pane Prod Impex S.R.L, a bread factory owned by his aunt, as reported by the local press.

The indictment shows that on May 31, 2024, he went to the respective company "to steal money, knowing that the person responsible for paying the employees' salaries usually deposits large sums of money inside their personal car, which they park in the company's yard without securing it."

He asked a friend to take him to the bread factory at night, without telling him why.

The thief put on a hooded sweatshirt, gloves, and a protective mask on his face, knowing that there are surveillance cameras in the area. He jumped over the fence and in the factory yard, he used a stick to change the angle of one of the surveillance cameras. He went to his aunt's car, entered it by opening the unlocked door, and stole an envelope with 4,400 lei, as well as the sum of 10,600 lei from the center console, "money belonging to the company and intended for paying the employees' salaries," prosecutors explained in the indictment.

However, he was caught, but the Bârlad Court sentenced him to just one year and six months on probation because he is a good Christian.

"The personal circumstances documents attached by the defendant confirm that the event in which he was involved is an isolated one in his life, being recognized in the community as a good Christian and an altruistic, family-oriented citizen with exemplary behavior," wrote the judge in the reasoning.
