Rents in major European cities continue to create an increasing gap between West and East, with differences that can reach even a few thousand euros per month for the same type of housing.
New data published by Eurostat paint a picture of contrasts: from cities where rent is hardly accessible even for high incomes, to capitals where prices remain relatively moderate, according to Euronews.
According to the cited source, housing - including utilities - accounts for almost a quarter of total household expenditures in the EU (23.6%).
The pressure is felt most strongly in major European capitals, where high demand and limited supply push prices up.
