PSD’s interim leader, Sorin Grindeanu, stated on Monday that PSD unanimously voted at the National Permanent Bureau meeting of the Party to return to the coalition meetings to exclusively discuss the outstanding issues in package 2, regarding fiscal measures and those in the field of administration.
„It was unanimously voted for PSD to return to the coalition meetings to exclusively discuss the outstanding issues we currently have in package 2 – issues related to fiscal measures and those in the field of administration.
As I announced last week and two weeks ago, on all other areas in package 2 - those concerning the elimination of privileges, the health package, the insolvency law, proposals coming from the Ministry of Labor, and there are quite a few - we have no issues. Today, as we speak, we are talking about outstanding matters in fiscal and administration," said the interim president of PSD after the party's leadership meeting.
A coalition government meeting is scheduled for this afternoon at 5:30 PM.
Concerns about package 2
Prior to the meeting, Grindeanu stated that the social democrats agree with most of the fiscal reform package 2, but emphasized that there are two issues that need clarification: in terms of fiscal measures and administration.
He added that if package 2 only referred to the elimination of privileges, PSD would have agreed, but there are other matters that need to be discussed.
"I announced this a week ago. We largely agree with the entire package of eliminating privileges, everything it contains. We agree on the new form of the insolvency law, we agree on the proposals coming from our Health Minister, Mr. Rogobete, in the health sector.
At this moment, there are two issues under discussion that need clarification and discussion this week: in terms of fiscal measures, package 2, and in terms of administration. These are two things that we need to clarify this week before promoting this package 2," said the PSD leader.

He mentioned that these are matters related to capital taxation and multinational companies.
"Matters related to capital taxation, matters related to multinational companies, those proposals that we have mentioned and therefore they need to find common ground, what we propose and what is currently coming from the Ministry of Finance or the Ministry of Development. That is why I believe it is necessary to have more meetings this week before promoting this package.
Why? Because, let me give you an example, today as we speak, there is no final form assumed by the Ministry of Development, for example, on the package that includes administration. So I would like to see the initial form proposed by the ministry, I believe it will be presented today, to discuss it within each party, in this case, I will discuss it in PSD, to come up with those proposals, some of which were even put forward last week by mayors and Presidents of the PSD County Council who met with the Prime Minister and other ministers last Monday, and to reach a common ground before promoting this package 2," Sorin Grindeanu further stated.

When asked if, at this point, there is still talk of assuming responsibility or if these laws need to go through Parliament, Grindeanu replied: "Even assuming responsibility means consensus in the coalition. A coalition government cannot proceed with a form of assuming a package not discussed within the coalition. If we overcome the stages I mentioned - the outstanding issues from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Development - I don't see a problem."
