Sorin Grindeanu left Cotroceni with accusations against the right-wing parties, which he claimed always led Romania into crisis when they governed the country, while PSD brought prosperity to the citizens.
„Every time the Social-Democrat Party led a government, it brought economic growth to Romania, improving the lives of Romanians,” stated the PSD leader.
Grindeanu asserts that PSD knows how to govern well for Romanians and reminded the president that their party came first in the parliamentary elections and they are ready to take over the government.
"We are ready to be part of the government, to lead the Government of Romania, being entitled to do so," Grindeanu said.
Criticism followed regarding the way Ilie Bolojan governed.
"The fact that we are in this situation is due to the poor way Ilie Bolojan led the government of Romania in the last year," Grindeanu declared.
The PSD leader recalled how the party left the governing coalition and overturned the Executive it was part of: "We made the decision and did well because the direction we were heading in was a bad one. This direction needs to be corrected."
After these statements, Grindeanu did not answer any questions, and the delegation left Cotroceni.
President Nicușor Dan started a new round of consultations with parties and parliamentary groups at Cotroceni Palace on Thursday morning to designate a candidate for the position of prime minister. The discussions come after four months of political crisis and two failed attempts to form a government.
The PSD delegation - consisting of Sorin Grindeanu, Claudiu Manda, Diana Tușa, Silvia Mihalcea, Bogdan Ivan, and Ionuț Pucheanu - was the first to be received by Nicușor Dan. The President greeted them with a smile and conversed with each member, especially with Silvia Mihalcea.
