PSD assumes governance and the role of prime minister, announced the party’s president, Sorin Grindeanu, at the end of consultations at Cotroceni with President Nicușor Dan.
The leader of PSD emphasized that Romania urgently needs a government, which is why the social democrats voted yesterday in Parliament for the Veștea Executive.
"Romania urgently needs a government. That is why PSD has decided to support a government presented in Parliament yesterday. PSD announced today to the president that it assumes governance. I have said the same thing in previous consultations.
PSD is ready to form a government that we would like to see take office as soon as possible. I hope all these political games have come to an end and everyone will show good faith. Every day lost brings a negative impact on the lives of Romanians.
PSD remains the party that wants to be part of a solution, and today it has offered solutions. We have always been open to finding solutions. PSD was the one that said stop and voted for that motion of censure," stated Grindeanu.

- A shadow of Nicușor. Is it time for a PSD-AUR assumed government?
He once again rejected a government in coalition with AUR. Asked whom PSD proposed for the position of prime minister, Grindeanu said that no nomination had been made.
"There is no need for that, it hasn't been discussed. We have only stated that PSD assumes governance and the role of prime minister," emphasized Sorin Grindeanu.
President Nicușor Dan convened the parties at Cotroceni for consultations to designate a new prime minister after the Veștea Government fell, decisively in the parliamentary vote on Monday evening.
It remains to be seen whom the head of state will propose for the position of prime minister and whether the new nominee will manage to create a majority.
