Who is seeking revenge on us

It’s not the end of the world that for a month, during the day, Olt Valley is closed. No matter how unpleasant it may be, it is rational that some major infrastructure works cannot be done among cars, and it is rational that summer is not only the holiday season but also the most suitable for works.

However, what makes this measure very difficult to bear and outrageous is the situation of alternatives, on narrow roads, already overcrowded, like DN1, or with trains that crawl at a snail’s pace and, most often, offering passengers excruciating conditions.

Any small disturbance of a fragile balance causes an earthquake in the country with by far the worst roads in the EU, especially when the measures are announced from one day to the next and when you do not create intelligent systems to ease the situation, as European Commissioner for Transport, Adina Vălean, pointed out.

TAROM is not the first airline whose pilots take advantage of the holiday season and the immense demand for air travel to push for salary claims.

The difference is that TAROM pilots resort to an extreme protest for extreme conditions, which are even dangerous for passengers. What is happening at TAROM is not just a moment of union pragmatism, but the consequence of many years in which the company has been parasitized, looted, stripped of competencies, and filled with political clientele.

TAROM has become a company with little competence and poorly paid, with aging planes, with outdated practices, which is based at an airport incapable for two weeks to solve the simple problem of air conditioning in the middle of summer.

That the Ministry of Internal Affairs wants to tighten legislation to more effectively combat drug driving and its terrible effects is a good thing.

But since drug use is not combated by hounding the consumer, but the traffickers, similarly, driving under the influence is not combated by mistreating innocent people, as it is about to happen.

Before issuing the recent anti-drug emergency ordinance, the Ministry of Internal Affairs should have taken into account what has been a banality for a long time:

-the huge number of false positive results of Drugtest devices, due to poor quality and/or their extreme sensitivity even to completely harmless substances in the concentrations found in a medication.

On the contrary, the Ministry of Internal Affairs kept secret the error percentage and in September 2023 refused to provide SpotMedia.ro with this information, violating Law 544.

-the underfunding of INML laboratories, causing blood test results to be awaited for months.

It's not a tragedy to lose your license for two days, says the prime minister. For a professional driver, it can be. For a person who needs to travel for an urgent/pressing matter, it can be.

No one has the right to judge how serious it is for someone to suffer a legal consequence without being guilty; the essential thing is that the sanction should be applied only when at fault.

These are just three recent examples, from a much longer list, of situations where two categories of chronic diseases are taking revenge.

On the one hand, fundamental vices always exacerbated by all governments of all prime ministers, accumulated to the point where all kinds of systems are blocked.

Nothing happens for a single cause, but because of accumulations that citizens have become accustomed to the point where absurdity had become normalcy.

And the second disease is heirupism, meaning measures taken without being thought out, cutting four times before measuring once.
