Romania found new fragments of a Russian kamikaze drone in Tulcea

Several fragments of a Russian drone were found on Tuesday by teams from the Romanian Ministry of Defense in Tulcea County.

From the investigations carried out on the spot, it was established that the respective fragments come from a Russian drone Geran 2.

Geran 2 is an Iranian-made kamikaze drone, imported by Russia to be used in Ukraine, renamed as "Geran-2" or Geranium-2.

"Forces of the Ministry of National Defense continued the search actions for possible drone fragments fallen on the Romanian bank of the Danube, as a result of the attacks carried out in recent weeks by Russian forces on civilian and port infrastructure targets in Ukraine.

In this context, on Tuesday, September 24, specialists from the MoND and the Romanian Intelligence Service investigated an area south of the locality of Plauru, Tulcea County, where the existence of drone fragments was reported.

The researched area is located outside the inhabited perimeter of the commune of Plauru, with no infrastructure elements affected," announces the Ministry of Defense.

"These have been collected for expertise, according to legal procedures. The Ministry of National Defense reiterates a strong condemnation of these attacks carried out by the Russian Federation against Ukrainian civilian infrastructure targets, which are unjustified and in serious contradiction with international law norms," the source cited further transmitted.
