Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated Nicușor Dan on his election as President of Romania on Thursday.
Xi Jinping emphasized that Romania was the third country in the world to establish official diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China, Xinhua reported on Friday.
China and Romania have long respected and treated each other as equals, the Chinese leader said, adding that the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries has continued to advance, and the traditional friendship has been strengthened over time.
Currently, unprecedented global changes are accelerating, Xi said, noting that as good friends and partners, China and Romania should strengthen their communication, build consensus, and deepen cooperation to jointly seize the opportunities of these times and work together to address the risks and challenges.
Xi said he attaches great importance to the development of relations between China and Romania and looks forward to collaborating with Nicușor Dan to write a new chapter in the cooperation between the two countries and to bring more benefits to the peoples of both countries.
