Former One Direction member Liam Payne has died in front of a hotel in, Buenos Aires.
The British musician, only 31 years old, was found dead after falling from the third floor of the building, Reuters and AFP report.
The main local newspapers, La Nacion and Clarin, reported that the police were called to the hotel in the Palermo neighborhood of the capital through an emergency call mentioning "an aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs and alcohol."
Ambulance staff later confirmed the singer's death, who was found in an inner courtyard of the hotel.
The artist had "very serious injuries from the fall, we declared him dead, there was no possibility of resuscitation," said the head of emergency services, Alberto Crescenti, on local television.
He added that emergency services were called to the Casa Sur hotel after receiving a call at the local time of 17:04. A team arrived seven minutes later and "found the man dead, and later we discovered that he was a singer in a band," he continued.
Liam Payne rose to worldwide fame as a member of the pop group One Direction, which has since disbanded, alongside Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson.
The boy band started their career after finishing third on the music competition show "X Factor" in 2010 in the UK, but the group disbanded in 2016, with its members pursuing different projects, including solo careers.
According to Billboard magazine, Liam Payne attended a concert by his former bandmate Niall Horan in Buenos Aires on October 2.
