A Romanian teacher from the „Mihail Kogălniceanu” National College in Galați is being investigated for abusive behavior after several students reported being threatened during classes.
According to the complaints, the teacher took out a pocket knife from her bag and told the children that she would „cut their fingers off if they weren’t well-behaved,” write journalists from Viața liberă. The incident frightened students, with one of them being transferred to another school by their parents.
The complaint received by the police indicates that on November 20, the teacher allegedly used the pocket knife to intimidate students who disturbed her during classes. She reportedly told the children, "I'll cut your fingers off if you're not well-behaved." The child who recounted what happened at home later refused to attend classes. Following the complaint, the educational institution suspended the teacher pending clarification of the situation.
The College's management confirmed to the cited source that the school enforced the regulations: "At the board of directors level, the teacher was suspended until the investigation is completed."
The police have opened a criminal case for abusive behavior and for carrying or using dangerous objects without authorization.
The Galați School Inspectorate is monitoring the case. "The teacher has been temporarily suspended. We will enforce the law based on the investigation results. Parents can rest assured that classes will be covered, and the educational process will not be affected," said spokesperson Adrian Silivestru.
The teacher could not be reached for comment; however, according to sources, she claims that she had the pocket knife only for cleaning food and that the threat was meant as "a joke."
