"Neil Lennon is the new head coach of Rapid. We are delighted to announce Neil Lennon's appointment as the head coach of FC Rapid! At the age of 52, the Northern Irish coach has an impressive career and extensive experience, both as a player and as a coach," a statement from Rapid said.

The coach also offered his first reaction after signing a two-season contract, until 2026, with Rapid.

"At first, I spoke with Mr. Șucu and Daniel Sandu, I had extensive discussions with them. Then, we met again a few weeks ago and I was very impressed by the project they presented to me. I was very impressed by Mr. Șucu, he is a very strong man, very intelligent, a man of principles. It was impressive for me. Then, talking to Daniel as well, it was a simple decision for me. I am very happy to be here, I know that Rapid is a very important name in the history of Romanian football. It is an opportunity for me.

I hope to create a strong connection between myself and the supporters, but this comes with achieving positive results and performance. It is my responsibility. I know there are very passionate supporters who love the club. They are similar to Celtic fans. I want us to perform, that is my main goal.

I hope to meet the supporters soon and I will do everything possible to achieve success with Rapid," Neil stated for fcrapid.ro.

Neil Lennon has won the Scottish Premiership title with Celtic five times, as well as four Scottish Cups.
