An almost surreal scene unfolded in a bank in Long Island (USA), where police officers discovered that the „burglar” was not a human, but a frightened deer.
The burglary alarm went off at a Webster Bank branch in Ridge, and officers from Suffolk County entered the building prepared for the worst. Before stepping inside, one of them felt the need to warn his colleague: „It has antlers, just so you know.”
The images captured by police cameras show the deer running chaotically among the desks, hitting furniture and leaping over a desk in a desperate attempt to escape. In the background, the bank's blaring alarm continues to wail, amplifying the chaos inside, writes CBS News.
After frantically running through the bank, the animal got stuck in a cubicle. An officer tried to grab it by the antlers and guide it out through the broken window, while scattered papers, shards of glass, and overturned chairs littered the floor.
In the end, the police managed to catch it with a lasso and safely guide it out of the building. The deer escaped unharmed, but left behind a real mess.
This is not the first time such incidents have occurred in Long Island. In October 2019, a deer smashed the window of a hair salon and injured a customer, in an equally unexpected episode.
However, this time, the "robbery" ended without casualties, only with a lot of disorder and a story that the police will not soon forget.
