The platform Bucureștiul Meu has published the ranking „The Perfect City 2026,” the result of an analysis evaluating the quality of life in 17 municipalities in Romania.
The ranking was based on seven essential criteria:
- infrastructure
- medical system
- air quality
- access to nature
- cultural life
- salary levels
- financial index of each city
Timișoara takes the first place, thanks to good salaries, a stable economy, and strong international connections. On the other hand, notable issues include congested traffic and rising housing prices, according to the analysis published by Bucureștiul Meu.
Bucharest holds the second place due to having the highest salaries in Romania and an extremely diverse labor market. However, the capital suffers from congestion and pollution.
Cluj-Napoca ranks third, thanks to its economic dynamics and attractiveness for young people, being an important university center and IT hub. The main disadvantages of the city are heavy traffic and high housing prices.
Sibiu takes the fourth place, appreciated for its good road infrastructure, quick access to natural areas, and relatively high salary levels. However, the city faces a limited labor market and increasingly high housing prices.
Oradea is in fifth place, considered an example of urban revitalization due to massive investments from European funds. It is a clean, modern city, but employment opportunities remain limited.
Târgu Mureș ranks sixth. It has the reputation of being a quiet, clean city with a well-developed medical system supported by an important hospital. A downside is the rather limited job market.
Brașov occupies the seventh place, benefiting from spectacular landscapes and a considered good quality of life. However, it suffers in terms of economic opportunities, which remain limited.
