National team coach Mircea Lucescu had some harsh statements to make again on Sunday regarding the Kosovars, at the official press conference he held before Monday’s match against Cyprus in the Nations League.
It is already known that the Kosovo national team did not want to return to the field on Friday evening, abandoning the match against Lucescu’s team at 0-0 and in the 92nd minute, after a tension-filled game.
Lucescu stated verbatim that "if we don't win 3-0, it means that there are no rules anymore," and the Kosovars rushed to dissect this analysis by our renowned coach. The former Yugoslavs still claim that there were constant racist chants from the stands, and ironically, Lucescu has the audacity to demand victory from UEFA:
"The 79-year-old coach expects Romania to win the match against Kosovo by default, but on the other hand, the Football Federation of Kosovo announced that they will seek justice at CAS. Even though there were constant racist chants and these events happened for the second consecutive year at the same stadium, Lucescu wants victory from UEFA," wrote those at telegrafi.
The only chance for Kosovo to win this Group 2 in League C of the Nations League was to defeat Romania by a minimum of three goals. This could explain the Kosovar players' premeditated decision to abandon the match and seek an illusory victory by default from UEFA.
"I strictly speak in terms of the rules, a team that leaves the field must lose, 0-3. I respect the players, Muriqi shook hands with me, but their behavior lacked fair play," added Mircea Lucescu.
Over the past two years, Romania has faced the Kosovo national team 4 times, and they have never scored a goal against us.
