Unprecedented decision taken by Kosovo two days after abandoning the match with Romania in the Nations League

The scandal that erupted at the end of the Romania – Kosovo match on Friday night in the Nations League is far from being extinguished, at least from the players’ perspective and especially from the leadership of the former Yugoslav entity.

Kosovo did not want to continue the match on Friday night with Mircea Lucescu’s team, even though we had already reached the 92nd minute, with the score being 0-0, forcing an illusory victory at the green table. And this decision will continue to have repercussions and consequences.

And as announced by a Kosovar official directly from the Federation, the players in yellow and blue will no longer show up for any match against a team from a country "that does not respect Kosovo as a state." More specifically, Bajram Shala, the team manager of Kosovo's first representative team, stated:

"This is a final decision, we will not participate in any match where Kosovo is not respected as a state and as an equal member of UEFA," said Bajram Shala, according to the Kosovar publication SOT.

Kosovo will play in this edition of the Nations League alongside Lithuania, on Monday at 21:45 in the last match of this season.

It remains to be seen when the UEFA Disciplinary Committee's decision will be issued regarding the serious incidents at the National Arena.
