Who risks a national political Crevedia?

Everything the liberals, with Nicolae Ciucă at the helm, say about PSD and Marcel Ciolacu is nothing short of ridiculous as long as they remain in power together, and when it comes to matters that truly interest them, such as dividing money and positions, they get along just fine.

But when it comes to very serious accusations, it is more than just ridiculous, it is downright irresponsible.

The PNL presidential candidate, Nicolae Ciucă, talked about how PSD and Marcel Ciolacu are playing into the hands of the Russians by supporting George Simion to advance to the second round.

And Deputy Alexandru Muraru was precise: "PSD has officially launched within its organizations the 'Hrebenciuc plan,' meaning the shifting of 10-20 votes per polling station for Simion, to repeat the scenario from the year 2000."

If a political leader, especially a deputy or the President of the Senate, is aware of such a malevolent plan and collaboration with Romania's main enemy, they cannot limit themselves to fiery press statements but have the obligation to report to the competent authorities of the Romanian state.

And if Mr. Ciucă fails to do so, President Iohannis (assuming he is still alive and well, which, of course, we wish for), the main beneficiary of the classified information from the national security system, has the duty to act if the Prime Minister of Romania and potential future President of the country is in cahoots with Moscow.

If there is no real information and the passivity of President Iohannis is, at least in this regard, justified, how can you allow yourself to inflate the importance of a candidate, making them tempting for undecided voters and providing arguments to quell the revolts within your own party?

But the fact that they are ridiculous and irresponsible in this absolutely desperate campaign does not mean that everything happening in Romania during this period is not playing voluntarily or involuntarily into Russia's hands, whose favorites are the useful idiots, the cheapest ones.

What we have seen in Moldova should give us pause. It is evident that the surprising outcome of the vote, especially in the referendum, and the narrow avoidance of a failure that would have kept the country in Russia's clutches, were heavily influenced by Russian money and propaganda.

If Moscow has made such an effort and invested massively to destabilize a small country like Moldova, what would it be willing to do to create problems in an electoral year and influence the voting outcome in a country that is part of the EU, NATO, and borders the war in Ukraine? How irresponsible would you have to be to lend a helping hand?

Marcel Ciolacu certainly wants George Simion in the second round. He is the most accessible opponent, especially after the hopes of sharing the second round with Nicolae Ciucă have diminished to alert levels.

It would only be a revival of the scare tactics from spring, under which the merger and joint list were made.

The removal of Diana Șoșoacă seems, no matter how we analyze it, a poorly thought-out attempt by the PSD to help George Simion gain a few more percentage points. If there are other underground helpers, the irresponsibility is even greater.

Because it is not just about the presidential final. Given how poor the offerings are this year, it hardly matters. But the outcome of the first round will have a major impact on the parliamentary elections, just a week later. And, even though the presidential elections occupy all the space and consume all energies, the parliamentary elections will truly shape Romania's next four years.

If in the future Parliament we have a strong sovereigntist area, around 30%, where it could be propelled by George Simion's success on November 24 and the revenge vote for Diana Șoșoacă's removal, Romania will have immense problems, and in Moscow, the champagne will flow.

Regardless, the negative effects of the poorly rated governance complained about in opinion polls have gifted percentages to AUR and Șoșoacă. And for this, both PNL and PSD are responsible. But continuing to play with fire next to the gas tanker means preparing for a national political disaster.
