WTA released the new world ranking in women’s tennis on Monday.
Simona Halep (33 years old) made a significant jump in the world rankings after the tournament in Hong Kong.
Simona won in the first round against Arina Rodionova, but was eliminated by Anna Blinkova in the round of 16 in Hong Kong. Following her first victory in two years, Halep climbs 252 spots in the WTA ranking, and now sits at 878th place.
The highest-ranked Romanian is Sorana Cîrstea (69th place), followed by Jaqueline Cristian (75th place, a jump of five spots) and Gabriela Ruse (90th place, a jump of three spots).
There were also changes in the top 10. Coco Gauff moved up to fourth place in the world, while Elena Rybakina and Jasmine Paolini each dropped a spot in the world rankings.
