Nicolae Stanciu has reached an agreement with Genoa 1893, the oldest Italian football club, a team he will join in the summer when his contract with Damac FC in Saudi Arabia, where he currently plays, expires.
The Belgian press has learned about this agreement between the captain of the Romanian national football team and the club owned by Romanian Dan Șucu and hastened to write about the former Steaua playmaker.
The Belgian press has criticized Nicolae Stanciu after the Damac player shook hands with Dan Șucu's team. Stanciu played for a good period of time at Anderlecht, perhaps the greatest Belgian club of all time.
The captain of the Romanian national team played at the Belgian club for two seasons, where he was teammates with Alex Chipciu.
"Who would have thought: the former failure from Anderlecht suddenly surprises with a transfer to one of the top five leagues in Europe.
A big surprise. Who would have dared to bet that Nicolae Stanciu could secure a transfer to Serie A at 31 years old, while currently playing in Saudi Arabia?
We were convinced that Nicolae Stanciu was in decline when looking at his career, seven years after the midfielder left Anderlecht in a way that does not do him credit. After an adventure in China, Stanciu signed with Damac in Saudi Arabia in 2023," wrote the Belgians at Voetbalkrant.
After his adventure in Belgium, Stanciu moved to the Czech Republic, to Sparta Prague, and then ventured into Arab football.
