Farul defeated Rapid, 2-1, on Friday, in the first round of the Super League play-offs, away.
Despite a good start, missing a great goal opportunity after Krasniqi’s shot from inside the box was narrowly pushed into the corner by Alexandru Buzbuchi, Rapid found themselves trailing to Farul in Giulesti, in the first round of the Super League play-offs.
In the 23rd minute, Grameni excellently found Louis Munteanu with a lofted pass in the box, who scored with a right-footed shot after Paul Iacob couldn't stop him. Farul also had a huge chance in the 32nd minute when, at the end of a counterattack, Ionuț Vînă was blocked by Marian Aioani inside the box.
The second half started with Farul still taking the initiative, and this reflected on the scoreboard. Louis Munteanu completed a brace in the 55th minute after a well-threaded pass from Cojocaru from the left side. Once again, Alexandru Iacob hesitated and couldn't intervene.
In the 67th minute, Răzvan Oaidă was sent off for accumulating yellow cards. After another crossbar hit from Ionuț Vînă, Rapid reduced the difference from a penalty obtained by Alexandru Iacob, converted by Albion Rrahmani in the 84th minute. After 8 minutes of stoppage time, the match ended with a score of 2-1 in favor of the "Sailors".
Following the result, Farul accumulates 25 points and temporarily climbs to 4th place in the Super League play-off standings. Rapid remains in 2nd place with 28 points, and if FCSB wins against Sepsi, they could extend their lead at the top of the table to seven points.
