FCSB narrowly clinched the victory in the match against Sepsi OSK Sfantu Gheorghe, 2-1, in the first round of the 2023/2024 competitive season.
Elias Charalambous’ players scored through Coman and Băluță, in the 11th and 40th minutes, while Gabi Debeljuh equalized for the Covasna team with a penalty kick. Following the win, the leader extended the lead to 7 points ahead of Rapid and Universitatea Craiova.
Coman scored with a well-placed shot in the near corner, then conceded a penalty in their own box due to a major negligence. The match was decided by Băluță's splendid top-corner shot from 20-25 meters.
FCSB pulls ahead by 7 points after enduring heroically in the final minutes of the second half. Up next is an away game against Farul, currently in 5th place in the play-off standings, but Gigi Becali's men are clearly the favorites and in pole position at the moment for a first title after a 9-year wait.
