Steven Gerrard returns to Rangers, the coach with whom Ianis Hagi won the title in Scotland

Ianis Hagi is getting ready to have a new coach on the technical bench, a new coach who is actually someone he knows very well at Glasgow Rangers.

The club’s new investor, 49ers Enterprises, has decided to bring Steven Gerrard back to the bench. With the former great legend of Liverpool, now free of contract after parting ways with a group from the Arab countries, Rangers secured their latest title in 2021.

Following Thursday night's victory over Fenerbahce, with a score of 3-1 in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16, the Rangers' bosses have decided not to keep Barry Ferguson, who currently serves as interim coach. And the club's leaders, in agreement with the new investor, "49ers Enterprises," have reportedly decided to bring back Steven Gerrard in the summer, as reported by the Scottish press through Football Insider.

Gerrard had previously been the coach at Rangers from May 2018 until November 2021. In November 2021, Gerrard accepted an offer from the Premier League, Aston Villa, but he did not succeed in Birmingham. This was followed by a short-lived stint at Al Ettifaq, from which he soon parted ways.

After parting ways with Philippe Clement, the Daily Record pointed out that the Rangers boys seriously need a psychologist:

"The difference between the disaster that Rangers represent when playing in the Premiership or Scottish Cup and the team competing in Europe is clearly beyond the understanding of normal football people. It is a matter for a behavioral psychologist or anyone else well-prepared to deal with inexplicable phenomena."
