Her former coach, who is currently the tournament director in Iași, expressed his excitement about this opportunity.
Furthermore, the organizers expect all tickets to be sold out for Simona Halep's match.
"I think we have more than we hoped for this year. We will have a very attractive tournament from a sports perspective, an exhibition match with Simona Halep and Andrei Pavel, which is expected to be sold out, as well as two concerts, events designed to offer more than just tennis to the tennis-loving audience.
We will have a very condensed week, hard to replicate in the following years," stated Andrei Oriță, the owner of the Iași Open license, according to Ziarul de Iași.
Simona retired from tennis in February after a match held in Cluj-Napoca.
She announced that she will play her retirement match next year at the Sports Festival.
