Ianis Hagi has been criticized, entering the crosshairs of the Scottish press, after Romania's defeat to Bosnia: "It's shocking"

The Scottish press rushed to criticize Ianis Hagi again, this time for his poor attitude and game, during the 45 minutes he played in Romania’s 0-1 loss to Bosnia in the start of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Hagi came on at halftime at the National Arena, replacing the injured Florin Tănase after the first 45 minutes. The Scots reacted to Cornel Dinu’s comments, who harshly criticized the son of the legendary Gică Hagi after the match against the former Yugoslavs, stating that he had a modest performance.

"Cornel Dinu told Ianis Hagi that he will never match his legendary father, Gheorghe."

The Rangers star, who is currently without a contract, could only sit on the bench as Romania shockingly began their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with a home defeat against Bosnia.

The former Ballon d'Or nominee (ranked 24th in 1970) and idol of Dinamo Bucharest, Dinu, did not hold back in his analysis of Hagi, comparing the father-son duo to the Dutch legend Johan Cruyff and his son Jordi," according to Daily Record.

Next for Romania is the away trip to San Marino in the second round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, on Monday at 9:45 PM.
