Ange Postecoglu, Tottenham’s coach, made a statement full of honesty regarding Radu Drăgușin (22 years old).
The only valid central defender in Tottenham’s squad at the moment, Radu Drăgușin, has received a lot of criticism following his performances in some matches for Spurs.
However, Ange Postecoglu defended Drăgușin and explained that Tottenham is pleased with how the Romanian has played and developed since arriving in London.
Postecoglu praised Radu Drăgușin's latest performance against Liverpool in the English League Cup and mentioned that some players are currently being unfairly judged due to the team's position in the standings (12th place after 20 rounds of the Premier League).
"I've said it before, some players are being unfairly judged due to the situation we are in. Radu is only 22 years old and still adapting. It would have been viewed differently if he had played alongside players who consistently perform, but he has an 18-year-old player next to him who isn't even a central defender, played with three different goalkeepers, different full-backs.
I believe he and Archie (note - Gray) played at an unbelievable level for us, considering the circumstances. He was great against Liverpool, very focused and disciplined in organizing the defense. (...) We are happy with Radu and how he has developed. He had to fight. He was sick last week and wasn't even close to a hundred percent. He probably needs some rest, but we don't have options at the central defenders' level," said Ange Postecoglu in the press conference before the Tamworth - Tottenham match in the FA Cup, quoted by Football London.
Radu Drăgușin has reached 22 appearances (1753 minutes) played in all competitions this season for Tottenham.
