Romanian tennis player Ana Bogdan was defeated by Katerina Siniakova with a score of 6-2, 6-4, on Tuesday, in the first round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami, Florida, with total prizes of $8,770,480.
Ana Bogdan (31 years old, 66 WTA) bowed after an hour and 24 minutes against the 27-year-old Czech, who ranks 42nd in the world.
The Romanian did not have a good day and was dominated by Siniakova, who she only had one break point against, converted in the opening game.
The two are now tied in direct matches, 2-2, after Ana Bogdan won in 2021, in the first round of Madrid qualifiers, with 7-6 (9/7), 7-5, and in 2022, in the quarterfinals in Warsaw, with 6-0, 6-4. Siniakova won in 2023, in the Adelaide qualifiers, with 6-7 (5/7), 7-5, 7-5.
Ana Bogdan received a prize money of $23,250 and 10 WTA points.
Also on Tuesday, in the first round, Jaqueline Cristian will face Frenchwoman Diane Parry, and Simona Halep will meet Spanish player Paula Badosa, in a match marking the former leader's return to the professional circuit after a year and a half, following the reduction of her suspension by the CAS from four years to nine months.
