American press reveals the true transfer fee of Louis Munteanu from CFR Cluj to D.C. United, a top transfer for Romanian football.
Louis Munteanu eventually agreed to leave the Cluj team, accepting the offer made by the Americans from DC United. The Romanian international will undergo a medical examination on January 5 in the USA.
Although the Cluj officials announced a transfer fee of 7 million dollars, the move will actually be completed for a much lower sum than previously speculated. According to information from NY Times, the transaction will amount to 5.9 million euros.
Varga had also mentioned in recent months transfer amounts of 18 million euros for Munteanu, amid negotiations with teams from top European leagues such as France and Spain.
CFR Cluj will retain 35% of the player's federative rights for a future transfer.
The former Farul player will receive an annual salary of 1.2 million dollars, more than double what he had at CFR Cluj, where he scored 28 goals and provided 9 assists.
