The President of the National Consumer Protection Authority, Horia Constantinescu, resigns from his position after becoming the PSD candidate for mayor of the city of Constanţa. He specifies that he remains as „deputy chief commissioner of the Constanţa County Inspectorate”,
„I raise a cup of coffee for each of you, those who have shown me the support that has motivated me throughout the two years as president of the authority. Probably some of you already know that I have been nominated as the candidate of the Social Democratic Party for the position of mayor of the city of Constanţa.
Forced by circumstances, I have to give up the position of president, in order to dedicate myself to the campaign and the new project. With all due lack of modesty, I have written a page in the history of the authority," wrote Horia Constantinescu on Facebook.
UPDATE: He later specified that he has not yet resigned. "I have not resigned! After discussions at the government level, I will communicate the exact date and process. There are important projects underway that should not be jeopardized," said Constantinescu.
In his opinion, he leaves behind "a functional institution, with significant steps taken towards digitalization, with renovated headquarters, with a new approach and notable achievements."
"I still remain in this big family, as deputy chief commissioner of the Constanţa County Inspectorate. I feel like going through a divorce by mutual agreement, but the thought of remarrying with Constanţa Mayor motivates me enormously. I am preparing the division; I leave the authority with several hundred extra hours, projects, and a positive visibility. I keep wonderful memories and an impeccable reputation in this position," concludes Constantinescu.
The leadership of PSD Constanţa announced on Wednesday evening Horia Constantinescu's candidacy for Constanţa Mayor. On the same day, statements by Horia Constantinescu regarding "dyed chicken meat" have stirred strong reactions in the public opinion.
