USR Deputy Stelian Ion is the Alliance United Right’s (ADU) candidate for the Mayor of Constanţa, while PMP Constanţa leader Claudiu Palaz is entering the race for the presidency of the Constanţa County Council.
The Alliance United Right Constanţa, comprised of USR, Forţa Dreptei, and PMP, has established the team of candidates for Constanţa county in the local elections on June 9th.
Stelian Ion is the president of USR Constanţa and has stated that his goal is to modernize the city.
"For over 30 years, PSD has decided everything that mattered in our city, namely: the personal interests of those who have led and lead this party. For three years, PNL has also joined them, with a mayor who kept PSD in power and only cared to satisfy the interests of real estate sharks and make a mockery of the city. For us, all the people of Constanţa matter, for us modernization and directing the city towards investments for our children's future are essential," stated Stelian Ion.
He ran for the Mayor of Constanţa in 2020 as well, finishing in 2nd place, closely behind: Vergil Chiţac (PNL) received 27,571 votes, and Stelian Ion - 23,528 votes.
Stelian Ion has been a deputy from Constanţa since 2016 and held the position of Minister of Justice for a few months in the PNL-USR Government.
Claudiu Palaz has been the president of PMP Constanţa since the establishment of this organization. He was the prefect of Constanţa county between October 2009 - April 2012, and between 2016-2020, he served as the vice president of the CJ Constanţa.
So far, current mayor Vergil Chiţac from PNL, and Ovidiu Cupşa, former director of Ceronav and former liberal, from AUR, have also announced their candidacy for the Mayor of Constanţa.
Additionally, Florin Mitroi, mayor of Valu lui Traian commune, has announced his candidacy for the presidency of the CJ Constanţa, representing PNL.
