Elena Lasconi questions the reasons why the governing coalition chose May 4th for the elections and demands explanations for the delay in announcing the electoral calendar.
In a message posted on Facebook, she raises several questions about the decision-making process, including an ironic reference to possible „private plane flights” by Marcel Ciolacu that could have influenced the choice of date.
"It's good that they have finally set a date for the elections. But three questions remain unanswered: 1. Why did they wait until today to present the calendar? 2. Why May 4th? How did they calculate this date? Why so late? Does Ciolacu, I wonder, have private plane flights beforehand and we shouldn't disrupt his schedule? 3. Why were the elections canceled, who and why is responsible for it? Will the next ones be organized safely or not?" writes the USR president.
"It remains as we have established: some small politicians, who only make arrangements for themselves, have tried 6 times to remove me from the race. The same politicians who know that I am the only one who can disturb them. They are used to puppets, not to people of good faith, much less to a strong woman.
They are all part of the system, only they try to deceive us by dividing into two: on one side old, corrupt politicians, who have been telling us the same stories for 35 years and on the other side the same outdated system made up of former secret police, reservists, former intelligence officers who have created isolationist parties. Regardless of the election date, they will not be able to avoid the inevitable: Romanians expect something else after 35 years," adds Lasconi.
The governing coalition, which met on Wednesday at the Victoria Palace, set the date for the presidential elections.
The first round of voting is scheduled for May 4th and the second round for May 18th, announced PNL in a statement.
Crin Antonescu remains the coalition's candidate for the presidential elections, PNL further announces.
