A mayoral candidate bought drones and hundreds of video cameras to prevent electoral bribery

A social democratic candidat for Mayor of Giurgiu (Romania) has purchased two hundred video cameras and also has five drones, which he will use to prevent acts of electoral bribery by political competitors.

„I don’t hide the fact that I bought two hundred speed cameras and have already distributed about a hundred. Four or five drones have already been discussed with individuals who have them, I raise them to a hundred meters within legal limits and spread them in the areas where I need them, and I will lower them to fifty meters for them to hear, so they know!

I don't want to play police, I don't want to conduct investigations, I want seriousness, correctness, and for the citizen's vote to establish the rule, not the vote of the one who gives and takes money! That's not democracy, that's not why we campaign!" declared Nicolae Barbu.

He spoke about "drivers of parliamentarians" who were seen coming out of currency exchange offices with "bags of money."

"We forgive nothing! (...) The drivers of some parliamentarians and individuals with powerful companies entered currency exchange offices with their hands in their pockets and came out with bags of money, and unfortunately, someone recognized them! (...) I am determined to go all the way with any issue!

I have no mother, I have no father when it comes to theft and all the filth! (...) Unregistered newspapers appear and are bought by PNL (National Liberal Party) members who distribute them. I filed a complaint against the respective publishing house so that they can tell the police to whom they sold the newspapers and if they complied with the current legislation, that's all! (...)

I raise the drones all the time, I can raise them to 20 meters! Money is not given around the polling stations, it is given at restaurants, bars," stated the candidate for the Mayor of Giurgiu.

He also admitted that six candidates have left the PSD list of municipal councilors, but added that "this was how order was restored, they were not true Social Democrats."

At the end of the press conference, Nicolae Barbu presented the results of a survey commissioned by the county organization of PSD Giurgiu, according to which the PSD candidates for the city mayor and the presidency of the County Council would win the elections with over 40% of the votes.
