A Romanian, murdered at a wedding in Germany: The attacker, a Frenchman, surrendered

A French citizen surrendered to the French police and confessed to being the perpetrator of an armed attack in which a Romanian was killed on Sunday at a wedding in the German city of Furth, DPA reported on Monday.

A spokesperson for the police in the German city of Nuremberg stated that they are investigating whether this suspect is indeed the perpetrator of the attack, but initial information points to him.

The 47-year-old Romanian died after gunshots were fired at a wedding attended by hundreds of people in the city of Furth, located over 200 kilometers from the French border.

According to the police, two cars with French license plates hastily left the scene, but it is not yet clear whether the attacker acted alone or had accomplices.

Investigators still do not know the motive behind the wedding attack, but believe it was premeditated and related to a personal dispute.

The Romanian citizen who was shot died in the hospital. The police have not yet established whether there is a connection between him and the married couple.

This armed attack was not the only one that took place on Sunday in the Bavaria state in southern Germany. In the city of Parsberg, a man was killed at an open-air cultural festival of the Kurdish community.
