The press from the United States of America issued a warning for Simona Halep ahead of her debut at the Trophee Clarins.
American journalists drew a firm conclusion after Simona Halep found out her first opponent at the French tournament, McCartney Kessler, as well as the possible opponent in the 2nd round, Emma Navarro (USA, 22 years old, 22nd WTA).
The Americans believe that Halep had a "nightmare" draw and that "it couldn't be worse", explaining their statements.
"Nightmare draw for Simona Halep as she returns to the court for the first time since the Miami Open," headlined the website tennisuptodate.com.
"Simona Halep will play at the Trophee Clarins, the first tournament after the Miami Open, but she couldn't have had a worse draw. (…) Besides the resurgence of Danielle Collins, Emma Navarro (note - possible opponent in the 2nd round at Trophee Clarins) has been among the top four players from the USA in the last year, trying to qualify for the Olympics. But Halep will have to face another rising American athlete, McCartney Kessler, who is heading towards the top 100 in the rankings, so it is definitely not an easy match in any way!", the quoted source further states.
The Trophee Clarins takes place from May 13 to 19, 2024, in Paris.
