The first fully electric model in Ferrari’s history is called Luce. The Italian manufacturer revealed some details about the new car, with an interior design inspired by aviation.
Ferrari announced at an event held on Monday in San Francisco the name of its first electric vehicle – „Luce,” which in Italian means „light.” It also showcased the first images of the vehicle’s interior, featuring leather seats, steering wheel, and dashboard.
Designed by "iPhone architect"
For the interior, Ferrari collaborated with LoveFrom, the company of British designer Jonathan Ive, who was the head of design at Apple until 2019.
They opted for simple and rational shapes to minimize driver distraction. A retro, minimalist style clearly follows the approach already seen in Apple products, from iPhone to iPad and MacBook, as reported by Corriere della Sera.

Rotating Screen
According to the announcement, the hardware and software were developed in unison, resulting in a harmonious physical architecture and a common driver-vehicle interface.
In the center of the dashboard is a screen that can rotate towards the driver or passenger, with an aluminum handle at its base to reduce hand strain and facilitate precise control selection.

Recycled and High-Strength Materials
The practical approach of the designers also involved selecting materials for their strength and durability. They chose aluminum, a 100% recycled alloy, milled directly from solid metal and then subjected to a state-of-the-art anodizing process.
This treatment creates an ultra-thin hexagonal cellular microstructure on the surface, providing strength and material hardness. The result is a finish with intense and durable color, while the glass used is highly resistant, including to scratches, and very visible due to precision polishing.
530-Kilometer Range
And now, a brief overview of the technology that Luce will feature:
- four motors, two for each axle and capable of individually operating each wheel, with 30,000 rpm (front) and 25,000 (rear).
- 122 kW battery integrated into the chassis, providing over 1,000 horsepower and a range of 530 kilometers.
- the car will reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 2.5 seconds and have a top speed of 310 km/h.
- charging with up to 350 kW of continuous energy and 22 kW of alternate energy.
- the e-Manettino (the knob named for this model) can control the three driving modes: Range, Tour, and Performance.

To combat natural battery wear, the Ferrari plug-in model can be upgraded by replacing the 15 battery modules.
"It won't be a supercar; it will have different personalities and will be spacious. It will certainly be a true Ferrari to enjoy with family and friends," explained Gianmaria Fulgenzi, head of product development, in October.
Price and Delivery Start Date for Luce
The core technology was presented by Ferrari as early as October, when the company announced that Luce would feature a special acoustic system designed to amplify the real vibrations of the electric motor, creating an "authentic Ferrari electric sound," not an artificial replica.
The exterior appearance remains a secret until May. It is known that it will be a four-door car and will be produced in Maranello (except for the battery cells, which come from the Korean company Sk on) in a building inaugurated in June 2024.
Ferrari has not yet announced the price of its first electric car, but it is possible that it will cost more than the Purosangue model, which starts at around 400,000 euros.
