The tourist tax paid by visitors to Brașov and Poiana Brașov resort will increase fourfold in 2026.
The decision was made by the Brașov Local Council, which established the new values of local taxes charged to tourists for each night of accommodation.
Thus, the tourist promotion tax will be increased to 7 lei/tourist/night, and the Salvamont tax will reach 5 lei/tourist/night, making a total of 12 lei for each day of stay.
This is the second modification of these taxes adopted this year. In April, the Local Council had decided that, starting in 2026, the taxes would be calculated as a fixed amount of 10 lei/stay/person, of which 5 lei for tourist promotion and 5 lei for Salvamont. However, they have now changed their minds.

The current decision marks the first significant increase in the tourist promotion tax in recent years in the city beneath Tâmpa.
It was 1 leu/day/tourist from 2020 until now, while the Salvamont tax has been maintained at the level of 2 lei/day starting from 2022, the year of its introduction. So far, tourists were only paying 3 lei/night.
The taxes are collected by accommodation units and then transferred to the local budget of the municipality of Brașov.
