Christmas Miracle: from Bucharest to Bacău, only on the highway

The construction of section 1 of the Focșani – Bacău highway (A7) is nearing completion, announced the general director of CNAIR, Cristian Pistol.

On the 35.6 kilometers between Focșani and Domnești Târg, the physical progress on the construction site has reached 95%, according to the update published by the head of the Road Company.

"The Romanian contractor (UMB Spedition) is well mobilized on these 35.6 km of this highway section (Focșani - Domnești Târg) with 1,600 workers and 500 pieces of equipment," Pistol shared on Facebook.

Remaining Works

According to the CNAIR chief, the contractor is currently working on the Tișița road junction, where lighting poles are being installed and the electrical installation is being carried out.

Simultaneously, teams are finalizing connections and waterproofing at the bridges over the Putna and Carecna rivers.

Among the ongoing works are:

• laying of asphalt mixtures;
• concreting of ditches and gutters;
• installation of joints, pre-slabs, and lighting poles;
• relocation of electrical networks;
• markings;
• excavations for the foundations of the columns in the Pufești roundabout;
• installation of metal guardrails.

Ready by the End of the Year

Cristian Pistol estimates that, if the current pace is maintained and weather conditions allow, the section can be completed by the end of the year.

The contract value for section 1 amounts to 2.3 billion lei (excluding VAT), and the financing is fully provided through the PNRR.

A7 Nearing Full Opening on the Segment up to Adjud

At the end of October, the head of CNAIR announced that this year, it will be possible to drive on the highway from Bucharest to Adjud if the execution pace on A7 is maintained. On the 17-kilometer stretch between Domnești Târg and Adjud, the progress of the works exceeded 90%, and on the entire section 2, Domnești - Răcăciuni, the execution had reached over 85%. The contract for this section is valued at 2.48 billion lei (excluding VAT), also from the PNRR.

In essence, if the estimates of the CNAIR chief prove to be true, by Christmas, we could only drive on the highway between Bucharest and Bacău County.
