Romania – Austria seems to be the crucial match for our national team in order to still hope for at least the 2nd place in the playoffs for qualifying for a World Cup in which we haven’t participated since 1998.
Austria comes after an incredible result in the qualifiers, a 10-0 victory at home against San Marino, the biggest win in Austria’s history in World Cup qualifiers. And just before the match with us, it seems that the Austrians have also solved their biggest problem.
Coach Rangnick announced that he can count on Christoph Baumgartner, who had medical issues in recent days and was an unused substitute against San Marino, according to the press in Mozart's country, through the newspaper ORF.
The 26-year-old attacking midfielder is a key player in the Austrian national team, playing for RB Leipzig, and is expected to start on Sunday. He has 53 caps for Austria, with 19 goals and 13 assists. In 2023, he was bought from Hoffenheim for around 25 million euros.
The match between Romania and Austria will be played on Sunday at 21:45 and can be followed in LIVE TEXT format on SpotMedia.ro.
