The Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) has reported a new attempt of manipulation and misinformation appearing on social media platforms, targeting the alleged closure of national border crossing points.
„We signal a new attempt of manipulation and misinformation spread on social media platforms. False information is being transmitted regarding the so-called closure of national border crossing points,” MAI stated in an official message.
The institution urges citizens to not share such alarmist messages and to get informed solely from official sources, such as state institutions' websites or official communication channels.
"We reiterate the call to citizens not to share such messages and to get informed from official sources. Additionally, we thank citizens for understanding and supporting MAI's actions in combating misinformation!" the ministry's statement further reads.

MAI representatives actively monitor and collaborate with competent institutions to identify the sources of these misinformation campaigns that can cause panic or confusion among the population.
